A free weekly Tai Chi program designed to support balance, movement, and overall well-being.
Description:
Wednesdays at 1pm: No experience necessary Thursdays at 11am: 10-Form In partnership with Health Advocates for Older People, CHN offers free weekly Tai Chi and 10-Form classes that go far beyond physical exercise. Through consistent, gentle movement, participants build balance, flexibility, strength, and coordination while developing greater focus, confidence, and mindfulness. The program also provides older adults with a meaningful weekly routine and a welcoming space to form friendships—supporting long-term physical well-being, emotional health, and a deeper sense of connection to the community. Event Description:
Guided Open Play Thursday, October 15 | 12–2 p.m. Tuesday, October 20 | 12–2 p.m. Friendsgiving Mahjong Thursday, November 19 | 7 p.m. Already know the basics? Pull up a chair and put your skills into practice. Designed for players with previous American Mahjong experience, these relaxed, supportive sessions are an opportunity to build confidence, sharpen your strategy, and enjoy more time at the table. An experienced Mahjong instructor will be on hand throughout each session to answer questions, clarify rules, share strategy tips, and offer guidance as you play. Come play, connect with fellow Mahjong enthusiasts from the neighborhood, and enjoy some friendly competition in one of Carnegie Hill’s most beautiful historic spaces. Format: Two-hour guided open play session Experience level: Players who already know the basics of American Mahjong. This is not an introductory lesson. This in-depth training provides practical, city-approved methods to address rat activity at its source, helping participants better understand how rats live, why infestations occur, and what steps can effectively stop them. Attendees will learn about their legal responsibilities, best practices for prevention, and the tools and resources available to protect their buildings and blocks. Whether you are a building superintendent, maintenance staff member, tenant, homeowner, property manager, or small business owner, this training offers valuable, actionable information you can put to use right away. We encourage you to share this opportunity with your building superintendent, management company, or neighbors who may benefit. Together, we can take proactive steps to protect Carnegie Hill and prevent infestations before they start.

Organized by Carnegie Hill Neighbors, this beloved tradition features costumes, music, dancing, games, trick-or-treating, and plenty of candy. Each October, neighbors of all ages come together to celebrate Halloween and the vibrant community spirit of Carnegie Hill. Two Spooky Zones: High-Energy Block | Madison to Park: Games, dancing, music, and upbeat Halloween fun! Chill Zone | Fifth to Madison: A calmer, low-sensory space for festive fun.
